Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House starring Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas
This 1948 classic comedy was an adaptation of the 1946 novel of the same name by Eric Hodgins.
Although filmed in Malibu, CA, the story was inspired by Hodgins’s own experience of building a home in the Merryall section of New Milford, CT.
The house he builds still stands.
